In 2025, the UAE's Olympic narrative reached unparalleled heights, characterized by historic medal collections and extraordinary performances on both regional and international platforms. The year showcased not just athletic brilliance but also the increasing caliber and aspirations of the nation's competitors across various sports.
During a session of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) Board in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the NOC President, emphasized that the milestones achieved in 2025 establish new standards for the country's sporting reputation. He remarked that these accomplishments are poised to inspire future athletes to strive for excellence under the UAE colors.
The year commenced with a remarkable performance from Emirati athletes at the 3rd GCC Beach Games in Muscat, where they clinched an impressive 23 medals. This success was mirrored at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, where the UAE delegation amassed a record total of 31 medals, their highest ever, fueled by numerous record-breaking displays.
UAE competitors further distinguished themselves at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, returning with a record-setting 27 medals, the highest ever achieved by the UAE at these Games, far exceeding prior performances.
At the Board meeting, Sheikh Mansoor commended the determination, discipline, and grit displayed by the athletes across all events, noting that each achievement served as a testament to national pride as the UAE flag was raised in celebration. He reiterated that such remarkable performances were the result of dedication and a strong commitment to representing the country on an elite level.
The gathering, which included Minister of Sports Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE NOC Secretary General Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, and various officials, addressed strategic initiatives. This encompassed the establishment of new committees aimed at enhancing values and ethics, Olympic solidarity, gender equality, and media relations, in addition to approving technical and administrative evaluations for 2025 along with projections for 2026.
Furthermore, members sanctioned financial protocols, outlined the final accounts for 2025, and discussed projected budgets for 2026, ensuring alignment with the Olympic Activity Plan. They also reviewed preparations for the inaugural GCC Conference on Sports Law and Management and proposed regulatory frameworks related to sports federation elections.
The meeting concluded with the endorsement of a new logo for the UAE NOC and a review of recent global participations. His Highness Sheikh Mansoor took the opportunity to engage with members of the UAE national badminton team, champions of the AirBadminton World Cup held in Sharjah, culminating in a year that firmly established 2025 as a landmark moment in UAE's sporting landscape.
