Singapore Police Revisit Geylang Murder Scene with Suspect

Post by : Shakul

In an ongoing investigation, Singaporean authorities have taken a murder suspect back to the Geylang scene of a violent altercation. Ong Hou Cheong, aged 48, faces charges in the stabbing death of 70-year-old Chow Ling Fei.

The incident unfolded on March 9, with Chow sustaining critical stab wounds during a confrontation that was reported around 8:15 am in Lorong 16 Geylang. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.

While both men were reportedly familiar with each other, the specifics surrounding their connection remain unclear. Following the incident, the suspect was taken into custody and formally charged with murder the next day.

On April 3, police once again brought Ong to the site for a reconstruction of events, taking place around 9:15 am in a designated car park near the Shanyuan Ancient Buddhist Lodge, where investigators had previously gathered crucial evidence.

During this reenactment, Ong was observed dressed in a red polo and black shorts, his hands and feet restrained. Though he maintained a largely blank expression, he occasionally gestured while answering investigators' inquiries.

The exercise spanned approximately 20 minutes as officers led Ong to significant locations pertinent to the investigation. Markers indicating forensic evidence were evident on-site.

Approximately 20 onlookers observed the proceedings from a distance while police ensured the area was secured to prevent any disruptions.

Authorities continue their work to piece together the full sequence of events surrounding the fatal incident, with more information expected as legal processes unfold.
