On April 15, 2026, Paris hosted the inaugural round of strategic dialogue between Oman and France, marking a pivotal stage in reinforcing bilateral relations.

His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, led the Omani delegation, while the French delegation was directed by His Excellency Martin Prince, Secretary General of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. This high-level engagement underscored both nations' commitment to enhancing diplomatic ties.

The discussions highlighted the substantial depth of the strategic partnership and underscored the need for enhanced collaboration across several sectors. Emphasis was placed on economic and investment opportunities, energy security, and educational exchanges, including specialized training programs aimed at fostering long-term growth.

Furthermore, the dialogue sought to identify fresh avenues for enhancing cooperation and advancing bilateral relations. Both countries expressed their desire to cultivate a robust and dynamic partnership rooted in continuous dialogue and mutual understanding.

In addition to bilateral discussions, participants reviewed key regional and international developments, particularly the complex situation in the Gulf. They reiterated that effective dialogue and diplomacy are the most reliable approaches to resolving current challenges and achieving sustainable peace.

Both Oman and France highlighted the importance of all relevant parties re-engaging in negotiations to alleviate tensions and foster stability in the region. Their shared perspective reaffirmed a commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and fostering international collaboration.

As part of the dialogue, an agreement was executed between Oman and France regarding work permits for spouses of official personnel. This pact is anticipated to significantly boost social and professional connections between the two nations.

The agreement was formalized by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy for Oman and Martin Prince for France, with senior diplomats and officials present, reflecting the significance of this strategic dialogue.
