Guardiola Pledges to Keep Speaking for Victims of War and Violence

Post by : Saif Nasser

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has promised that he will continue to use his public voice to speak for people suffering in wars and violent conflicts around the world. Speaking ahead of a key League Cup semifinal match, Guardiola said staying silent is no longer possible when human suffering is visible to everyone.

Guardiola made these comments during a press conference in Manchester, just days after he spoke at a charity concert in Barcelona. At that event, he showed support for children living in the occupied Palestinian territories. His words have since drawn global attention, not only because he is one of football’s most respected coaches, but also because of the strong emotions behind his message.

The Spanish manager said that today’s world is different from the past because people can clearly see what is happening through news, videos, and social media. According to him, the pain caused by war and violence is now right in front of our eyes. He mentioned conflicts in Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, and other parts of the world, saying these are not distant problems but shared human issues.

Guardiola stressed that suffering anywhere should matter to everyone. He said violence and injustice are problems for all human beings, not just those directly affected. In his view, ignoring such events only makes the world a colder and more divided place.

He also spoke about violence closer to home, referring to recent fatal shootings in the United States that led to public protests. Guardiola questioned how such actions could ever be defended and said these images deeply hurt him. For him, these moments are reminders that society still has a long way to go.

The Manchester City manager explained that his motivation comes from thinking about the future. He said he speaks out not only for today’s victims but also for his children, families, and future generations. He believes that while no society is perfect, people must keep trying to improve.

Guardiola made it clear that he does not see himself as flawless. Instead, he views speaking up as a responsibility that comes with his position. Wherever he feels he can help raise awareness and encourage kindness, he said he will continue to do so.

In a world often divided by politics and conflict, Guardiola’s message was simple and human. He called on people to care, to look honestly at suffering, and to work together to build a better and more compassionate society.
