Mozambique Floods Lead to Crocodile Threat; Death Toll Reaches 3

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Mozambique is grappling with severe flooding following heavy rainfall, inundating towns and causing extensive devastation. Particularly affected is the southern town of Xai-Xai, where crocodiles have been observed roaming flooded streets. Authorities have confirmed that three individuals lost their lives due to crocodile attacks.

In the broader region of southern Africa, relentless rains and floods in the last month have resulted in over 100 fatalities across Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The deluge has ravaged thousands of homes, severely impacting critical infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools, and healthcare facilities.

Officials in Mozambique are urging residents to seek higher ground as evacuations are underway, underscoring the heightened dangers posed by crocodiles in submerged areas.
