Scheduled for June, the UAE Games 2026, organized by Special Olympics UAE, will assemble over 1,000 participants nationwide. This event is dedicated to fostering inclusivity in sports for People of Determination.
Kickstarting the games will be Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics events, conducted in collaboration with Wellfit Gymnastics Academy at Circle Mall, Dubai. Following this, competitions will shift to ADNEC Abu Dhabi and Zayed Sports City – Khalifa International Bowling Center.
Anticipating the involvement of over 1,000 athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities, alongside unified partners, coaches, technical staff, and officials, the event will also feature participation from international teams, including Special Olympics Morocco and Special Olympics Malta.
The sports program comprises men’s basketball, 3x3 women’s basketball, 7-a-side football, badminton, powerlifting, bocce, and bowling, with a showcase of the Motor Activity Training Program, highlighting the advancement of inclusive sports within the UAE.
Supported by pivotal partners such as ADNEC Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa, various sports federations, clubs, and academies will play crucial roles in this event.
Special Olympics UAE is also set to conduct a Partners Platform Day during the event, aimed at fostering collaboration through recognition and signing of cooperation agreements among organizations.
His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of Special Olympics UAE, expressed that the success of the games embodies strong collaboration between public and private sectors. He emphasized the event's ongoing support for empowering People of Determination in society.
The UAE Games are biannual. The previous edition, held in Abu Dhabi in 2024, saw over 600 athletes compete across six sports, supported by many officials and countless volunteer hours.
The 2026 edition promises various initiatives, including the Golisano Health Leadership Awards, the Young Athletes Program, esports activities, the Games of the Future, and the Fit 5 fitness initiative.
The UAE Games 2026 further advance inclusivity in sports while underlining the nation’s commitment to empowering People of Determination as integral participants in society.
