Many people who want to lose weight think that the number on the scale is the only thing that matters. They spend hours doing cardio, reduce their food intake, and count every calorie. But according to celebrity fitness coach Shivohaam Bhatt, this approach is not always healthy and can even harm the body in the long run. Shivohaam, who trains famous actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Aamir Khan, says that true fitness is not just about losing weight. It is about building muscle, improving strength, and reducing fat at the same time.
In a recent YouTube video posted on November 24, Shivohaam explained that weight loss is helpful for people who are medically obese. For them, losing extra kilos can reduce serious health risks and improve daily life. But for many others, weight loss alone can create new problems. If the body loses weight too quickly or without proper nutrition, it may lose muscle instead of fat. This can make the body look weak, soft, or saggy, and may also lead to loose skin. Shivohaam says that this happens when people follow extreme cardio routines or walk long distances but do not eat enough protein.
He believes that the goal should be body recomposition. This means losing fat while increasing muscle at the same time. It requires proper training, clean eating, and controlling stress. According to him, this method increases the body's basal metabolic rate, which means the body burns more calories even at rest. It also improves insulin sensitivity and helps maintain a healthy heart. Shivohaam points out that functional training is especially useful. These exercises copy real-life movements like climbing stairs or lifting heavy objects, making the body stronger and more capable.
Shivohaam also explains the different types of workouts people can choose. High-Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, includes short periods of fast exercise followed by rest. This helps burn fat quickly. Low-intensity steady-state cardio, like slow jogging or long walks, helps burn fat without tiring the body too much. He says that combining functional training with low-intensity cardio is one of the best ways to burn calories and keep fat off in a safe way.
A major part of his message is the importance of building muscle. Shivohaam says that muscle tissue is “metabolically alive,” which means it constantly uses energy. Fat, on the other hand, does not need much energy to stay in the body. If someone trains with weights and eats enough protein, they build muscle, which helps burn more fat even when they are resting. But if they do not train their muscles, the body tries to save energy and ends up losing muscle instead of fat. This makes fat loss slower and weight regain much easier.
Shivohaam encourages people to focus on long-term health instead of quick fixes. By paying attention to muscle-building, balanced nutrition, and the right kind of training, anyone can achieve a stronger, healthier, and more stable body. The coach’s message is simple: weight loss alone is not enough. True fitness comes from building strength, improving function, and maintaining a lifestyle that supports overall wellness.
