Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster, Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has taken the Indian box office by storm, amassing an impressive ₹600 crore domestically and ₹900 crore globally. Even though it released solely in Hindi, the film has struck a chord with audiences in southern states, prompting the production team to announce a broader, pan-India release strategy for its sequel.
The initial installment, which premiered on December 5, has generated buzz not just in Hindi-speaking regions but also in significant South Indian markets such as Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Recent occupancy metrics reveal that Dhurandhar achieved 28.75% occupancy in Hyderabad, 37.25% in Chennai, and an impressive 49.25% in Bengaluru—figures that rival those from Mumbai and the National Capital Region. This robust response has pushed the producers to dub Dhurandhar 2 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, in addition to Hindi, ensuring a significant pan-India rollout.
During the climax of Dhurandhar, fans were given a sneak peek into the protagonist’s deeper backstory, setting the stage for Dhurandhar 2, which is slated for release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with Eid celebrations. The sequel will delve deeper into Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza Ali Mazari (a.k.a. Jaskirat Singh Rangi), exploring his covert mission and backstory, thereby enhancing the appeal of this espionage thriller.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar is written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, renowned for his captivating storytelling approach.
The success of Dhurandhar has been fueled by social media engagement, strong word-of-mouth, and repeat audiences, particularly in South India, where fans have requested dubbed versions to enjoy the film in their native tongues. The sequel's pan-India strategy aims to harness this enthusiasm to reach a broader audience.
Dhurandhar 2 is set to be released alongside Yash and Kiara Advani's highly awaited Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, promising an exhilarating box office showdown in March 2026.
With the phenomenal triumph of Dhurandhar lighting the path, fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapter of this high-stakes espionage saga, ready for a thrilling cinematic experience across multiple languages throughout India.
