The film Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, is setting new standards at the Indian box office with an impressive collection that has crossed the ₹800 crore mark. Its engaging plot and memorable songs, particularly the viral FA9LA dance, have resonated with viewers. The track Shararat, featuring Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza, has emerged as a fan favorite.
Choreographer Vijay Ganguly disclosed that Tamannaah Bhatia was initially the top choice for the Shararat track. However, director Aditya Dhar opted for a duo to enrich storytelling rather than allow a single star to shift focus. “If it was Tamannaah, the spotlight would have been solely on her,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of maintaining narrative integrity.
Set against a wedding backdrop, the song reinforces the film's storyline while avoiding any distraction from the core plot. Ganguly highlighted that the film is packed with events, necessitating the song's alignment with the overall narrative rather than being a standalone “item number.”
Ayesha Khan has shared exclusive behind-the-scenes snapshots, reflecting her thrill about being part of Dhurandhar. She commended Aditya Dhar's exceptional world-building and storytelling, stating that the audience becomes wholly immersed in the characters and their journeys. Krystle D’Souza echoed this sentiment, expressing her heartfelt thanks for the fans' loving responses, noting an influx of dance covers and engagement in her messages.
Crafted by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar draws inspiration from real covert RAW operations, particularly Operation Lyari. With a stellar cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, the sequel is set for a March 19, 2026 release.
Successfully surpassing the ₹800 crore mark globally, the film has garnered ₹555.5 crore from India alone, joining the ranks of the top ten highest-grossing Indian films, outperforming Animal even as James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire & Ash graces theaters.
