Global Humanitarian Conference in Brindisi Enhances Emergency Response Collaboration

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Brindisi, Italy, 16 December 2025:

In a significant move toward boosting global humanitarian efforts, Dubai Humanitarian, alongside the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD/WFP), has successfully wrapped up the Second Conference of Countries Hosting the World’s Humanitarian Hubs. Conducted in Brindisi, Italy, this conference is a pivotal moment for enhancing international coordination and streamlining humanitarian logistics worldwide.

Taking place during the 25th anniversary of the UNHRD, the event saw participation from seven countries pivotal in global humanitarian logistics, including Australia, Ghana, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates. Senior officials gathered to deliberate on collective preparedness and responses to pressing global crises.

Throughout the discussions, delegates engaged in candid dialogues, pinpointing mutual challenges and potential solutions within the humanitarian logistics framework. A consensus emerged on prioritizing principles to advance coordination between hubs, improve data transparency, speed up digital innovation, and encourage sustainability in emergency operations. Significant attention was directed at fostering interoperability among systems to facilitate quicker and more effective humanitarian responses.

A noteworthy aspect of the conference was the Humanitarian Logistics Databank, where participants assessed its growing influence in enhancing information exchange and operational effectiveness. Strategies for increasing the platform’s reach and integrating it more thoroughly into humanitarian networks were examined to bolster real-time coordination and data-driven decision-making during crises.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, remarked on the conference outcomes, stating: “The results and discussions underscore the vital role of collaboration in supporting communities in crisis. When host nations, humanitarian hubs, and diverse entities unite, we pave the way toward a more responsive and innovative humanitarian framework. Our goal is to create a global safety net that can promptly respond to emergencies while respecting dignity and uplifting local stakeholders through sustainable solutions. Dubai Humanitarian is committed to realizing this collective vision into actionable change for those in need.”

The assembly also featured high-profile participants and specialists from a variety of international and regional organizations, including MAECI, the World Food Programme (WFP), the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Italian Civil Protection, CEPREDENAC, UNHCR, Politecnico di Milano University, and the Emergency Supply Pre-Positioning Strategy (ESUPS), among others.

Building on the groundwork laid during last year’s inaugural conference hosted by Dubai Humanitarian and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs at COP28 in 2023, this second iteration concluded with a reinforced commitment to bolster international collaboration. Participants reiterated their determination to expedite innovation, enhance logistical and digital capabilities, and collectively strengthen the global humanitarian framework to better tackle the increasing complexity and scale of future humanitarian challenges.
