Post by : Bianca Suleiman

During an official working visit to the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Their discussion centered on fortifying bilateral relations and augmenting cooperation in crucial sectors.

Both leaders considered avenues to enhance their economic and development collaborations, specifically referencing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). They explored ways to align these initiatives with respective national development goals, aiming for shared growth and prosperity.

Beyond economic matters, the dialogue included the evolving situation in the Middle East and its implications for security both regionally and globally. President Tshisekedi condemned the violence aimed at civilians and infrastructure, asserting that such actions disrupt peace and violate international treaties.

He reiterated the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s unwavering support for the UAE, backing its endeavors to uphold national security, protect sovereignty, and ensure citizen safety.

The meeting saw the presence of high-ranking UAE officials, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, along with various ministers and officials.

Upon his arrival in the UAE, President Tshisekedi was warmly received by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, marking the initiation of this official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic connections between their nations.
