UAE's Vision for Regional Relations Post-Iranian Hostilities

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Dubai Press Club (DPC) hosted an insightful dialogue session named “The Future of Regional Relations post-Iranian Hostilities”. Featured speaker, His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, who chairs the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), shed light on the situation.

Attendees included Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, and Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, along with senior media figures and political professionals.

Dr. Al Nuaimi addressed pivotal regional changes and their impact on relationships amid evolving geopolitical landscapes. He articulated both the hurdles and prospects present on regional and international fronts.

Highlighting the recent aggression against the UAE and Gulf nations, Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized the resilience of Emirati institutions, noting the effective collaboration among national agencies to safeguard the country’s achievements—a fact that surprised many observers given the high readiness and performance.

He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to placing its citizens at the forefront of its priorities. He recounted the support offered to thousands of stranded travelers during crises, reflecting the nation’s humanitarian ethos.

The speaker also pointed out the vital role of the media, equating it to defense, security, and economic sectors in national protection. He regarded media professionals as the nation’s voice, noting that contemporary challenges extend beyond military concerns to include media awareness and responsibility.

Dr. Al Nuaimi added that the UAE is actively fortifying its defense, political, and economic frameworks while also redefining its regional and international relationships. He asserted that the national interests are being recalibrated in response to shifting global contexts.

He remarked on the UAE’s determination to cultivate authentic partnerships grounded in mutual interests rather than mere rhetoric, striving for sustainable and enduring relations.

On the topic of security, Dr. Al Nuaimi discussed the efforts made by the UAE in uncovering and dismantling a terrorist cell allegedly affiliated with the Iranian regime that posed a threat to national security. He commended UAE security agencies for their adept handling of the situation.

Addressing Iran specifically, he highlighted the importance of distinguishing between the Iranian government and its citizens, acknowledging that ordinary people often bear the brunt of such tensions. He emphasized the UAE's equal treatment of the Iranian community without infusing politics into their presence.

Dr. Al Nuaimi cautioned against misleading media portrayals, advocating for awareness and accurate comprehension of regional dynamics. He reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering commitment to peace, stability, dialogue, and collaboration.

In conclusion, he praised the Dubai Press Club for fostering a robust platform for dialogue, reinforcing Dubai's stature as a pivotal regional and global media center.
