Addressing the Humanitarian Emergency and Ceasefire Call
As the conflict in Sudan marks its third anniversary, the conference aimed to bolster humanitarian efforts, advocate for a ceasefire, and promote a civilian-led political transition.
Sheikh Shakhboot, in his speech, highlighted the urgent necessity of halting the violence, condemning all parties for their actions, and emphasizing the need to safeguard civilian lives.
UAE’s Commitment Since April 2023
He stressed that since the conflict erupted in April 2023, the UAE has consistently supported:
A prompt ceasefire along with a humanitarian truce
Unhindered humanitarian access throughout Sudan
A civilian-led peaceful resolution to the crisis
Emergency initiatives to mitigate the humanitarian disaster
He pointed out that through the Quad, the UAE has actively promoted a seamless truce and a lasting ceasefire while advocating for a transition to a civilian-led government devoid of extremist influences.
