Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Nakheel, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has initiated a contract valued at AED 527 million with Al Nasr Contracting Company to enhance infrastructure and utility services on Island B of the Dubai Islands project.

This project aims to construct vital infrastructure to facilitate upcoming residential, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. The work scope encompasses roads, drainage systems, sewage lines, water supply, electricity and telecom networks, alongside connections to the district cooling system. Coordination efforts with Island A's infrastructure will also be key.

The infrastructure is planned with cutting-edge, sustainable systems to promote long-term expansion and ensure dependable services throughout the island.

This contract signifies substantial progress in the development of Dubai Islands, aligning with ongoing investment strategies guided by the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, emphasized that this initiative reflects steady advancement toward transforming Dubai Islands into a comprehensive destination conducive to population growth, tourism, and economic development.

Spanning 18.6 square kilometers across five interconnected islands, Dubai Islands is set to feature approximately 57 kilometers of coastline, including 21 kilometers of beaches. The plan anticipates accommodation for over 231,000 residents in around 49,000 units, ranging from villas to apartments, alongside resorts and leisure facilities.

Island B plays a crucial role within the master plan and necessitates robust infrastructure to support forthcoming construction endeavors and services.

Jean Nicolas El Helou, CEO of Al Nasr Contracting Company, stated the firm is dedicated to providing high-quality and sustainable infrastructure in accordance with Dubai’s developmental ambitions.

The islands will link to the mainland via three bridges connected to the Al Shindagha Corridor, positioned just 10 kilometers from Dubai International Airport and 15 kilometers from Downtown Dubai, thereby enhancing the city's connectivity.
