Thailand has reinforced its commitment to regional defence cooperation, with senior officials taking part in the DSA and NATSEC Asia 2026 event in Kuala Lumpur.
Heading the delegation was Tharaphong Malakham, accompanied by military representatives at this prominent international defence and security gathering, which ran from April 20 to 23, 2026.
The event was inaugurated by Anwar Ibrahim and featured participation from top officials and representatives from 76 nations, underscoring its significance as a worldwide defence forum.
Recognized as one of the leading defence exhibitions in the region, DSA and NATSEC Asia 2026 brought together over 1,400 companies from 63 countries, focusing on state-of-the-art defence capabilities and technology-driven resilience.
For Thailand, this event presents a vital chance to observe global advancements in defence technologies such as UAVs, AI, and automation, which are essential for modernizing its military forces and enhancing operational effectiveness.
Additionally, the event acts as a platform for strengthening collaborations with global defence organizations, facilitating knowledge exchange, and broadening opportunities in the international defence arena.
During his visit, the Permanent Secretary explored exhibits of Thai defence products that are in current military use and have export potential, signifying Thailand’s increasing capability and aspirations in the global defence sector.
He further engaged with foreign exhibitors specializing in naval construction, particularly frigates, which may bolster Thailand's ambitions to advance its domestic shipbuilding capabilities through strategic policies and alliances.
