The Ajman Department of Finance recently held an important workshop titled “Financial Circular and Procedures for Preparing the Financial Plan and General Budget.” The event, designed for officials engaged in budget preparation and project management across various government entities in the emirate, focused on equipping them with essential skills.
This initiative is a part of the Department’s commitment to refining the government financial structure and boosting the effectiveness of financial planning as Ajman strives for a sustainable and progressive financial framework.
The primary goal of the workshop was to empower public sector professionals with the expertise required to develop proactive financial strategies, aimed at optimizing resource utilization while ensuring long-term financial viability in the region.
Key topics of discussion included the “Programme and Performance Budgeting” model, which has been implemented in Ajman for almost 17 years. This approach emphasizes the connection between financial planning and strategic objectives, facilitating better resource management within the government.
Participants also scrutinized the evolution of the sustainability aspect of the financial system since its inception in 2009, noting its adaptability to shifts in the global economic landscape.
The workshop's capacity-building segment aimed at imparting practical experience, fostering skilled professionals adept at crafting precise financial plans that bolster government performance.
Attendees received hands-on training in the “Estidama” system, an innovative tool that aids government entities in efficiently entering financial data and supervising budget preparation, enhancing accuracy and overall planning quality.
Marwan Ahmed Al Ali, Director General of the Finance Department, expressed that the workshop exemplifies the Department’s dedication to judicious financial management through innovative strategies. He emphasized the significance of collaboration and adaptability in achieving financial sustainability while improving Ajman's quality of life.
Al Ali highlighted the Department's objective to foster a culture of sustainable financial planning and to cultivate financial professionals equipped with modern techniques and knowledge to achieve dependable budget forecasts aligning with global standards.
Furthermore, he pointed out the Department’s initiative to unify financial protocols and ensure adherence to established policies, which aids in enhancing planning precision and guarantees effective execution across governmental bodies.
Overall, the workshop is anticipated to enhance the quality of financial planning, minimize discrepancies between projected and actual outcomes, and enhance governmental expenditure efficiency. Additionally, it will facilitate improved financial decision-making, contributing to Ajman’s sustainable growth and global standing.
This workshop is part of an extensive array of training programs facilitated by the Department of Finance throughout the year to enhance financial practices and further the aspirations of Ajman Vision 2030.
