The Russian embassy in Caracas has issued a strong warning to its citizens, advising them not to travel to Venezuela. The alert comes at a time of high tension in the country following a major U.S. military operation and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
According to Russia’s state news agency TASS, the embassy shared this advice after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces had carried out a strike in Venezuela. The operation ended with Maduro and his wife being taken into U.S. custody. This sudden event has increased fear of unrest and uncertainty across the country.
Venezuela has already been facing deep political and economic problems for many years. Shortages of food, fuel, and medicine have made daily life difficult for many people. Now, with the president removed and foreign military action confirmed, the situation has become even more unstable.
After the U.S. move, protests broke out in parts of Caracas. Supporters of the Venezuelan government gathered in the streets, waving flags and speaking out against the United States. Some protests were linked to earlier actions as well, including the U.S. seizure of a tanker carrying Venezuelan oil. These public gatherings show how strong emotions remain inside the country.
Russia has long had close political and economic ties with Venezuela. Because of this relationship, the safety of Russian citizens in the country is a serious concern for Moscow. By advising people to avoid travel, the embassy is trying to reduce the risk of harm to tourists, workers, and business travelers.
Travel warnings like this are usually issued when governments believe conditions may be unsafe. These risks can include protests, violence, sudden changes in leadership, or disruptions to transport and public services. In Venezuela’s case, all of these risks are now possible.
So far, there has been no detailed response from Venezuelan authorities about the Russian warning. It is also unclear how long the travel advice will remain in place. Much will depend on how events unfold in the coming days and whether calm can be restored.
For now, Russia’s message is clear. With tensions rising and the political future of Venezuela uncertain, its citizens are being urged to stay away until the situation becomes more stable and predictable.
