Teacher Under Investigation Following Student's Fatal Incident with 3D-Printed Rifle

Post by : Shakul

In Siak regency, Riau, authorities have identified a female teacher as a suspect in the tragic death of a student during a school science project that involved a 3D-printed rifle. This incident has sparked significant concerns regarding safety measures in educational settings.

Officials assert that the teacher allegedly displayed negligence by failing to halt the demonstration of the dangerous device. Sepuh Ade Irsyam Siregar revealed that investigators discovered evidence indicating that the teacher did not implement necessary safety precautions during the event.

The unfortunate occurrence transpired on April 8 during a school activity dubbed the Science Show, where students showcased their projects. The demonstration was held on the school grounds, where various student teams presented their work.

While presenting her project, the student victim was operating a device named the “Musketeer Gun,” which was a 3D-printed rifle. Reports suggest that the student had instructed her peers to keep their distance before demonstrating the device.

However, the apparatus unexpectedly malfunctioned and exploded, leading to fatal injuries. The local community has been left in shock, prompting a thorough investigation by authorities into the event’s circumstances.

Law enforcement has indicated that the teacher may face legal repercussions under laws pertaining to negligence resulting in death. Although named a suspect, she has not been taken into custody as she has cooperated with the ongoing investigation.

This case underscores the critical necessity for stringent safety protocols and oversight during school projects, especially those involving hazardous materials or machinery.
