The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), in collaboration with World Athletics and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), has officially launched the “Aim Beyond” initiative aimed at uplifting youth and marginalized communities through the transformative power of sport. This announcement came after a formal agreement was signed by QOC Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain and QFFD Director General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, alongside World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon.
This ambitious global program will establish 11 environmentally friendly and inclusive running tracks across various countries such as Palestine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Cook Islands, Panama, Anguilla, Dominica, Burundi, Tanzania, and Ukraine. These facilities are designed to accommodate athletes of all levels and utilize sustainable materials, showcasing Qatar’s commitment to development and community progress.
Qatar asserts that this project reflects its firm belief in the ability of sport to foster peace, unity, and social advancement. The new tracks aim not only to enhance the skills of young athletes but also to provide communal spaces that promote equality and a sense of belonging. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain emphasized that the Aim Beyond initiative will empower young athletes to surpass their limits, replicating Qatar's achievements during the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships, thereby ensuring a lasting legacy that inspires future generations.
According to QFFD Director General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, this initiative will create new pathways for youth by providing accessible facilities that nurture talent and illuminate brighter futures. World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon remarked that many communities harbor talent yet fall short in terms of facilities, and Aim Beyond will bridge this gap through robust partnerships. He expressed that this initiative aims to extend the legacy of the Doha 2019 championships beyond Qatar, supporting young athletes around the globe.
