Meeting Between Qatar’s Interior Minister and US Special Envoy Focuses on Security

HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatar’s Interior Minister and the leader of the Internal Security Force, Lekhwiya, hosted HE US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, at the National Command Center (NCC) in Doha. This meeting was dedicated to exploring critical mutual interests and enhancing collaborations on security issues both regionally and internationally.

Sheikh Khalifa took the opportunity to outline Qatar’s security strategies and its commitment to regional stability. He described the NCC, which serves as the central hub for monitoring, command, and coordination of security operations nationwide. This facility is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, enabling timely responses to emergencies and effectively managing various security issues.

During the meeting, Barrack received a comprehensive overview of the NCC’s functions, which are geared towards improving rapid response capabilities. The presentation emphasized the center’s role in harmonizing multiple security agencies, allowing for coordinated responses during critical events. Barrack acknowledged Qatar’s forward-thinking investments in security infrastructure and recognized the nation’s dedication to public safety and a secure environment.

The discussions highlighted the robust relationships between Qatar and the United States regarding strategic and security cooperation.
