At the festive world premiere of her directorial debut, Goodbye June, Kate Winslet was joined by her son Joe Anders on December 3 at the Curzon Mayfair in London. This Christmas drama, penned by 21-year-old Joe, marks the first feature film directed by the Oscar-winning actress.
Winslet dazzled in an exquisite Elie Saab gown complemented by a gold belt and chic jewelry, while Joe opted for a timeless black suit and a crisp white shirt. The red carpet was also graced by co-stars including Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough, Johnny Flynn, and Timothy Spall.
Goodbye June is set to hit select theaters in the U.S. and U.K. on December 12, 2025, before making its debut on Netflix on Christmas Eve, December 24.
Discussing her inspiration to direct, Winslet expressed her desire to safeguard her son’s vision, stating, “Once he completed the screenplay, I committed to producing it and portraying Julia. However, I couldn't entrust the directorial role to anyone else, as I felt it was essential to make it truly represent us.”
She also highlighted the enriching experience of working alongside her son. “Joe possesses remarkable insight into filmmaking, and our daily collaboration opened avenues of understanding about one another during the creation of this film.”
Winslet shares her son Joe with her former husband, director Sam Mendes, a partnership that ended in separation in 2010 and divorce in 2011.
