Kangana Ranaut Slams AI-Edited Photos, Calls Them a Serious Violation of Personal Choice

Post by : Saif Nasser

Actor and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has expressed strong anger and concern after artificial intelligence (AI) was used to edit her photographs from Parliament. The altered images showed her wearing formal suits instead of the sarees she usually chooses for official appearances. Kangana said these edits crossed all limits and violated her personal freedom.

The controversy began when AI-generated images of Kangana started circulating on social media. In these pictures, she was seen exiting Parliament dressed in blue, brown, and rust-coloured suits. However, the original photos were taken during her visits to Parliament, where she has consistently worn traditional sarees since becoming a Lok Sabha MP from Mandi in June 2024.

Kangana reacted by sharing one such post on her Instagram Stories. Along with it, she wrote a clear message asking people to stop using AI on her images. She pointed out that the pictures were originally taken in sarees and accused users of misusing technology to change her appearance without consent.

In a strongly worded note, Kangana said that she wakes up almost every day to see AI-altered images of herself with different clothes and makeup. She described this trend as deeply disturbing and beyond acceptable limits. According to her, deciding what to wear and how to look is a personal choice, and no one else has the right to change that using technology.

“This is violating beyond words,” she wrote, adding that people should stop “dressing up others” through AI edits. Kangana stressed that her appearance, especially in a serious space like Parliament, is entirely her decision.

The issue has once again brought attention to the growing misuse of artificial intelligence on social media. While AI tools are becoming more powerful and accessible, concerns about privacy, consent, and digital ethics are also increasing. Public figures, especially women, often become easy targets for such edits.

Kangana Ranaut has always been vocal about issues she feels strongly about, whether in films, politics, or social matters. Her reaction reflects a wider concern shared by many about how AI technology is being used without responsibility or respect for individuals.

Apart from her political role, Kangana has had a long and successful career in cinema. She made her debut in 2006 with Gangster and went on to deliver acclaimed performances in films like Queen, Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu, and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She has won multiple National Film Awards and received the Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian cinema.

She later turned filmmaker and most recently appeared in Emergency, where she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film was released in January this year. Kangana is also set to make her Hollywood debut in the horror drama Blessed Be the Evil, with filming expected to begin in New York this summer.

As debates around AI, consent, and digital boundaries continue, Kangana Ranaut’s strong response serves as a reminder that technology should not come at the cost of personal dignity and choice.
