Iran has warned that it may close the Strait of Hormuz again if the United States continues its naval blockade, even after saying the key shipping route has reopened. The warning has raised fresh concerns around the world, as this narrow waterway is very important for global oil supply.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said that if pressure from the US continues, Iran may take strong action. He stated that ships may only be allowed to pass through the strait with Iran’s approval. This means Iran wants to keep control over who can use the route.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister announced that the Strait of Hormuz was open again after days of tension and conflict in the region. However, reports suggest that ships are still moving through limited routes that are being monitored by Iranian authorities. This shows that the situation is not fully normal yet.
On the other side, US President Donald Trump said that the American blockade on Iranian shipping will continue. He made it clear that the US will not remove the blockade until a wider agreement is reached with Iran, especially regarding its nuclear program. The US believes the pressure is needed to push Iran into a deal.
This situation comes after a temporary truce linked to conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and Hezbollah in Lebanon. While the ceasefire has helped reduce violence for now, the overall tension remains high. Both sides are still ready to respond if the situation worsens.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important oil routes in the world. Around one-fifth of global oil passes through it. Any disruption in this area can affect fuel prices and energy supply across many countries. Experts warn that if Iran closes the strait again, it could cause a major shock to global markets.
For now, talks between the US and Iran are still uncertain. There are hopes for new discussions, but no clear agreement has been reached yet. The future of the region depends on key issues like Iran’s nuclear plans, security in the Strait of Hormuz, and peace in nearby conflict zones.
