A shooting in Lawrenceville, Georgia has claimed the lives of four individuals, including one Indian national, as confirmed by the Indian consulate in Atlanta. Authorities are investigating the incident, believed to stem from a family dispute, which occurred early on Friday.
The Consulate General of India in Atlanta expressed condolences on social media, confirming that the suspect is in custody. They assured that assistance would be provided to the affected family.
Identified as Vijay Kumar, 51, from Atlanta, the suspect faces multiple serious charges linked to the tragic event. Local police reported that all four victims were found deceased, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Authorities received emergency calls around 2:30 a.m. from a residence on Brook Ivy Court. Officers arrived promptly to discover the scene and the victims.
Reports indicate that three children were also in the home during the incident, and they took shelter in a closet during the ordeal. One child bravely called 911, providing crucial information that aided the first responders.
Fortunately, the children were unharmed and were later collected by a family member. Several charges, including murder and aggravated assault, have been filed against the suspect as the investigation continues, with no further motive details released yet.
