Chandigarh, India — January 28, 2026:
Early Wednesday morning, bomb threat emails were sent to at least nine private schools in northern India, resulting in urgent evacuations of staff and students.
The threats were reported around 8:00 a.m. local time, impacting various schools in Chandigarh and Gurugram. Authorities quickly dispatched police and bomb squads to investigate and conduct preventive security measures.
Schools in Chandigarh that received these threats include Saint Kabir Public School, Ryan International School, Vivek High School, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chitkara International School, and Bhavan Vidyalaya. Four schools in Gurugram were also noted to have received similar correspondences.
In a precautionary move, all personnel were advised to leave the premises. Law enforcement is currently seeking to identify the source of these emails, with enhanced security protocols now in effect.
While no explosives or unusual items have been detected, authorities are approaching the situation with the utmost seriousness, prioritizing the safety of the children and staff members involved.
