Fatal Pedestrian Accident Near Belleville Highway

A tragic incident occurred near Belleville where a pedestrian in his 70s lost his life after being hit by a car, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). This fatal accident took place on Old Highway 2 on Saturday night, leading to an active investigation.

Authorities reported that officers were dispatched to the scene just west of Montrose Road around 8:30 p.m. Despite the timely response of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead on the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.

In the aftermath of the collision, a portion of Old Highway 2 was closed for several hours to allow investigators to collect evidence. The road has since been reopened to traffic.

OPP is diligently examining the factors surrounding this accident, although no details about the driver or the vehicle involved have been made public at this stage.
