Abu Dhabi: In a robust response to recent regional challenges, AD Ports Group has significantly strengthened local and regional supply chains throughout the Gulf with its extensive logistics network, ensuring steady trade activities.
Since the end of February, the group has kept operations running smoothly by quickly creating alternative trade routes, efficiently rerouting cargo across land, rail, sea, and air. This proactive strategy has alleviated disruptions impacting Arabian Gulf ports, especially those stemming from traffic issues in the Strait of Hormuz.
To date, over 54,000 TEUs have been processed at Fujairah Terminals and Khor Fakkan Port. Moreover, more than 22,000 containers have traversed land logistics, while 18,000 TEUs have been handled via maritime channels. A fleet of 24 vessels is currently supporting eight feeder services, alongside over 8,000 tonnes of cargo transported through air logistics via more than 100 chartered flights.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, made it clear that long-term investments in logistics infrastructure have allowed for a significant redeployment of resources within the UAE. He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to ensuring a smooth flow of vital goods, including food, medicine, and other essential supplies, while upholding stringent safety protocols for the workforce.
In order to maintain seamless shipping services to Khalifa Port and crucial regional trade routes, AD Ports Group has initiated new feeder shipping services that link the UAE’s eastern ports with ports in both the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea. The company has expanded its fleet and is poised for additional capacity enhancements.
Feeder services operated by SAFEEN Feeders and Global Feeder Shipping have been redirected through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, establishing alternative access points to the UAE and the greater GCC area. Recent services now connect ports in India, Pakistan, Oman, and the Upper Gulf.
Additionally, the group has created an air bridge through three chartered aircraft to facilitate the transport of essential cargo, with plans for future capacity increases. On land, a specialized logistics corridor employing 800 trucks and daily Etihad Rail services guarantees smooth cargo transportation between Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Khalifa Port, Jebel Ali, and Sharjah.
Alongside these initiatives, AD Ports Group has significantly boosted its warehousing capacity beyond 76,000 square meters, with intentions to expand it further to 188,000 square meters.
Utilizing advanced digital trade platforms, the group has improved real-time visibility and efficiency in overseeing trade operations. These systems facilitate optimized cargo routing and the reuse of empty containers, thereby lowering costs and enhancing supply chain efficacy.
In collaboration with UAE authorities and industry allies, AD Ports Group continues to provide dependable logistics services while fortifying supply chain resilience across the region.
