Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health (DoH) has joined forces with the World Economic Forum (WEF), embarking on a new chapter of their strategic alliance aimed at improving intelligent health systems and promoting a culture of healthy longevity. This significant announcement took place during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos at the UAE Pavilion.
The renewed partnership will fortify Abu Dhabi’s status as a frontrunner in preventive, personalized, and data-oriented healthcare.
His Excellency Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, pointed out that traditional healthcare often reacts rather than prevents issues. This collaboration is intended to transform global strategies towards intelligent health paradigms focusing on early intervention, disease avoidance, and the pursuit of extended, healthier lives among communities.
This development follows the successful conclusion of the previous partnership phase, which yielded a joint white paper titled “A New Era for Digital Health: Abu Dhabi’s Leap to Health Intelligence.” This document sheds light on Abu Dhabi’s creation of a sophisticated health system that integrates clinical, genomic, lifestyle, and environmental information to foresee health challenges, avert illnesses, and shape extensive public health strategies.
Dr Shyam Bishen, Head of the Centre for Health and Healthcare at the World Economic Forum, commended Abu Dhabi’s pioneering efforts, asserting that the emirate showcases how digital health, artificial intelligence, and data can yield substantial real-world benefits when implemented at a systemic level. He remarked that the insights gained can assist nations in developing interconnected, preventive, and robust healthcare infrastructures globally.
As part of this new phase, Abu Dhabi will continue its role as a Global Pathfinder in the WEF’s Digital Healthcare Transformation (DHT) Initiative. This initiative brings together over 200 international entities, including healthcare executives, technology innovators, policymakers, and investors, to hasten healthcare advancements on a worldwide scale.
The experience of Abu Dhabi will be vital in global conversations surrounding healthy living, longevity, health intelligence, and the influence of digital technology and AI on public health policymaking. This collaboration will also align with other WEF health projects, such as the Healthy Longevity Initiative and the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience.
