Yas Marina Circuit has undergone a significant multi-million-dirham renovation of its race control room in preparation for the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The revamped facility boosts both the speed of decision-making and the safety oversight for a team of 28 officials.
This upgrade introduces a cutting-edge digital infrastructure, which allows staff to access 55 camera feeds, timing systems, race logs, and broadcast streams from tablets, reducing reliance on additional equipment and facilitating integration for visiting championships.
Featuring improved ergonomics, dimmable LED lighting, and specially designed desks, the new layout ensures that officials maintain focus and efficiency during critical operations. According to Stuart Latham, Yas Marina’s Safety and Operations Director, the upgraded facility not only meets but exceeds FIA standards, making it one of the most advanced race control centers globally.
The revamped controls made their debut during the Yas Racing Series from 31 October to 2 November and are set to support the motorsport seasons of 2025 and 2026, which includes the Formula 4 Middle East, Asian Le Mans Series, Lenovo Gulf 12 Hours, and the Autonomous Racing Series. The much-anticipated Abu Dhabi GP is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 December.
