The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and Mercedes-Benz have announced an unprecedented long-term collaboration, signifying one of the most substantial investments made in women's tennis. This partnership will commence on January 1, 2026, and was unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The new branding will debut on net post signs at the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open in the UAE and the Ostrava Open in the Czech Republic from February 1–7.
Reports indicate that Mercedes-Benz intends to allocate nearly $500 million to women's tennis over the next decade, far surpassing the previous sponsorship from Hologic, which contributed $20 million annually since 2022. The partnership with Hologic will conclude on December 31.
As part of this new agreement, Mercedes-Benz will serve as the exclusive automobile partner of the WTA Tour. The company will supply a specialized fleet of vehicles for players, officials, and VIPs during tournaments, maintaining a significant presence at about 30 WTA events next year, encompassing WTA 1000, 500, and 250 tournaments. Enhanced participation in more events is expected from 2027 onward.
WTA founder Billie Jean King expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its alignment with the WTA's core mission—providing opportunities for girls and women to compete, thrive, and earn a living from sports they cherish. She highlighted that support from an esteemed global brand like Mercedes-Benz sends a vital message regarding the importance and recognition of women's sports worldwide.
Mercedes-Benz has a long-standing history in tennis, having previously sponsored the ATP Tour from 1996 to 2008 and currently sponsoring the US Open. This new engagement with the WTA establishes a significant return to tennis and underscores its dedication to advancing women's sports.
With such substantial financial backing and prominent branding, this partnership is poised to significantly bolster the WTA's expansion efforts, enrich tournament experiences, and amplify the visibility of women's tennis internationally.
