In a bid to boost economic momentum, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung convened a crucial meeting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade at the government's Hanoi headquarters, focusing on the country's key priorities for 2026.

The Prime Minister underscored the vital importance of the industry and trade sector in reaching ambitious economic targets, particularly the objective of achieving double-digit growth. He pointed out that the sector’s efficiency is directly tied to national economic development.

During discussions, officials reported on advancements in developing institutional frameworks, enhancing governance, and promoting crucial sectors like industrial production, energy expansion, and both domestic and international trade, all of which are pivotal for economic growth.

The PM recognized the challenges ahead, including uncertainties in the global economy, trade restrictions, geopolitical tensions, and domestic production constraints. He called for proactive strategies to navigate these issues and sustain upward growth.

He directed the ministry to prioritize energy security to avoid shortages in electricity and fuel, emphasizing the need for rapid acceleration of significant energy projects, updates to the national energy strategy, and improved inter-agency coordination as essential tasks.

Additionally, the government is committed to fortifying industrial supply chains, boosting local production capabilities, and integrating more deeply into global markets. The aim is to explore export opportunities and enhance trade efficiency while capitalizing on both existing and anticipated trade agreements.

Moreover, the Prime Minister urged for administrative reforms, digital transformation, and modernization of the domestic distribution network to enhance consumption and governance. He highlighted the importance of cultivating a skilled workforce and maintaining accountability within the ministry.

The meeting concluded with a resolute reaffirmation that the industry and trade sector must spearhead economic advancement, address current challenges, and deliver sustainable, high-quality growth for Vietnam in the upcoming years.
