Sharjah — The Emirate of Sharjah proudly commenced its 54th Eid Al Etihad (Union Day) celebrations with an exciting kickoff at the newly developed Al Layyah Canal. The festivities, running from November 26 to December 2, are attracting both residents and visitors to a vibrant cultural space available daily from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
This year, Al Layyah Canal has been beautifully transformed into a festive hub, offering an exciting mix of heritage, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The atmosphere brims with patriotic fervor, showcasing traditional Emirati performances. Folk dance groups, including Al Razfa and Al Ayalah, presented rhythmic displays that captured the essence of local traditions. The opening ceremony also featured nostalgic speeches from senior community members about the UAE’s early years, reminiscing about the union.
Visitors can look forward to various interactive shows throughout the week, designed to engage audiences actively. The venue will also spotlight local youth initiatives and family-run businesses that highlight innovative Emirati products. A national act titled “Sultan of Sharjah” performed by the Al-Shaer Band added a theatrical touch to the evening, complemented by a captivating light display over the canal.
To ensure a family-oriented experience, dedicated children's areas have been established, featuring play zones and creative workshops that encourage artistic expression through drawing and crafts. The expansive layout of the canal facilitates easy movement for visitors and offers open spaces for art, culture, and folk exhibits, contributing to a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The celebrations go beyond mere entertainment; they aim to foster national pride and strengthen community bonds among residents and visitors. By blending tradition with modern recreational offerings, Al Layyah Canal has emerged as a central point for communal engagement and cultural appreciation.
These week-long festivities enhance Sharjah’s growing reputation as a cultural and tourist hotspot. With daily shows, engaging activities, and an uplifting sense of unity, Al Layyah Canal stands out as a key venue for this year’s 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, leaving a lasting impression on all who attend.
