Bride Calls Off Marriage Just 20 Minutes Post-Ceremony in Uttar Pradesh

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In an astonishing turn of events in Uttar Pradesh, a bride departed her husband just 20 minutes after reaching her in-laws’ residence, prompting a five-hour panchayat meeting that ultimately annulled the marriage.

The wedding, conducted on November 25 in a Deoria marriage hall, went through all traditional rites, with both families appearing joyous at the celebration. However, the following morning, during the groom's family’s customary welcome, the bride exited her room and contacted her parents, insisting that she would not reside with her husband.

Despite attempts by relatives from both sides to persuade her to remain, the bride stood her ground. Her family's concerns centered around what they described as unwelcoming behavior from the groom's family, though the bride offered no further details.

Panchayat Holds Extensive Mediation Session

This unforeseen scenario led to an emergency meeting of a local panchayat at noon on November 26. Over the course of five hours, villagers and family members endeavored to mediate, but reconciliation was sadly not achievable.

Ultimately, a written agreement was reached, allowing the couple to separate amicably, with the option of remarrying in the future. All gifts exchanged were returned, and by evening, the bride departed with her family.

Response from Both Families

The groom’s family expressed their dismay, noting that everything seemed normal prior to the wedding event. They acknowledged that the abrupt decision had caused embarrassment among neighbors and relatives, yet they felt no need to involve law enforcement once the bride had made her choice.

Having been arranged six months earlier, the unexpected breakup immediately after adhering to all wedding customs has become a topic of discussion within the local community.
