The United Malays National Organisation (Umno), Malaysia’s leading political party, is poised to deliberate on applications submitted by former members wishing to rejoin under the “Rumah Bangsa” initiative.
The pivotal decision is anticipated during the upcoming supreme council meeting in Melaka, where the initial set of applications will be analyzed for approval.
Ahmad Maslan, a prominent party figure, shared his optimism regarding the acceptance of the applications, emphasizing the ongoing initiatives aimed at reuniting former members and enhancing party solidarity.
The Rumah Bangsa initiative is designed to welcome back those previously dismissed or suspended, while also seeking to engage a younger demographic of potential new members.
Officials have stated that the process is straightforward and without conditions, requiring only a basic application with identification for administrative matters.
As Umno approaches its anniversary festivities, this initiative is viewed as a strategic move to bolster support and rejuvenate its political foundation.
Significantly, former leaders such as Hishammuddin Hussein and Khairy Jamaluddin have shown interest in rejoining, reflecting evolving dynamics within Malaysia’s political framework, where parties are focused on enhancing internal unity and gearing up for future electoral contests.
