H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, praised the UAE athletes for their exceptional showing at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain. He said their achievements reflect the UAE’s growing status as a strong competitor in international sports.
Sheikh Mansoor highlighted that the UAE’s sporting triumphs are the result of both leadership vision and athlete dedication. He noted that the continuous support from the nation’s leaders plays a vital role in developing future champions who represent the UAE with pride and discipline.
The UAE delegation included 152 athletes who participated across 19 sports disciplines. They secured 31 medals and achieved several new personal and national records. The UAE emerged as the leading Arab nation in the Games and ranked eighth overall among 45 countries.
According to Sheikh Mansoor, every medal and record demonstrates the strength of the UAE’s spirit, discipline, and unity. He said these young athletes are the pride of the country and proof that hard work and preparation always lead to success.
UAE athletes excelled in athletics, swimming, Muay Thai, camel racing, and jiu-jitsu. The swimming team earned a gold medal in the 50-metre butterfly, marking the fastest time ever recorded in the event’s history. Meanwhile, the jiu-jitsu team delivered multiple medals, continuing the UAE’s dominance in the sport.
Sheikh Mansoor expressed his gratitude to the coaches, organizers, and support staff for their tireless efforts. He also appreciated the UAE diplomatic mission in Bahrain for its continuous assistance, ensuring the athletes competed comfortably and confidently throughout the Games.
The UAE contingent, including both men and women, competed in events such as boxing, golf, taekwondo, weightlifting, cycling, and mixed martial arts. Their participation in a wide range of disciplines reflects the nation’s growing interest in developing all types of sports talent.
Sheikh Mansoor concluded by reaffirming that the UAE will keep investing in its youth and sports sector. He said the country’s future athletes will continue to raise the UAE flag high at every competition, reflecting the nation’s values of excellence, unity, and ambition.
