UAE Unveils Scholarship to Cultivate Future AI Leaders

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Taking a decisive stride in cementing the UAE’s status as a leader in technology, a transformative scholarship programme has been announced to assist exceptional undergraduate students in artificial intelligence at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). This initiative is integral to the nation’s strategic vision for advancing its prowess in AI and technological innovation.

Set to commence in the academic year 2025–2026, the Tahnoon bin Zayed Scholarship for AI Excellence will provide extensive support for outstanding individuals pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence at MBZUAI. The initiative aims to cultivate a robust future talent pool in AI, equipping young minds with skills relevant to the fast-paced global tech environment.

In the upcoming six years, approximately 350 students are projected to gain from this merit-based scholarship. The selection process will be highly competitive, emphasizing mathematical aptitude, leadership traits, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Scholars will enjoy full financial backing and opportunities to internationally represent the UAE at significant youth and tech forums, in addition to resources for initiating their startups or tech projects.

Differing from traditional AI degree programmes, MBZUAI’s undergraduate curriculum offers a well-rounded approach. Students will engage not only in technical disciplines but also in humanities, business, and liberal arts, fostering a comprehensive understanding of responsible AI development. This programme welcomes both Emirati and international candidates, positioning MBZUAI as an emerging global hub for undergraduate AI studies.

Participants will also experience hands-on learning through internships, industry placements, and mentoring collaborations with leading tech firms. The university’s cutting-edge learning facilities—including advanced computational systems, smart classrooms, and innovation-centric spaces—further enhance the educational experience, preparing students to make significant contributions to the region's burgeoning knowledge economy.

This scholarship signifies a substantial investment in cultivating a new wave of innovators tasked with steering technological advancement across the UAE and beyond.
