In a historic moment for the UAE, a 29-year-old Indian expat has claimed the country’s largest-ever lottery prize of Dh100 million. Anilkumar Bolla Madhavrao Bolla, originally from South India, beat odds of over 1 in 8.8 million to secure the jackpot during the UAE Lottery’s 23rd Lucky Day draw on October 18.
Anilkumar, who has been living in Abu Dhabi for just a year and a half, shared his excitement and disbelief in a video released by the lottery organizers. “I was in shock. I was sitting on the sofa, and I’m just feeling that, yes, I won it,” he said, recalling the moment he realized he had become an overnight millionaire.
How the Winning Numbers Were Chosen
The new Dh100 million winner revealed that he relied on a combination of luck and personal sentiment. He used the Easy Pick option for most of his numbers and personally selected the number 11 from the “Months set” to honor his mother’s birthday. “I haven’t done any magic or something, so I just chose the Easy Pick… The last number is very special. It’s my mum’s birthday,” Anilkumar explained.
Interestingly, he purchased 12 tickets in a single transaction, increasing his chances of hitting the jackpot.
Plans for the Life-Changing Prize
While the amount is life-transforming, Anilkumar emphasized a responsible approach to his windfall. He intends to invest wisely and spend carefully, aiming for a balance between personal enjoyment and long-term security. Among his aspirations are buying a supercar, celebrating at a luxury resort, and relocating his family to the UAE.
“My mum and dad had very small dreams, and I want to fulfil all the dreams, whatever they have, and I want to take care of them,” he shared. He also expressed a desire to donate part of the prize to those in need, stating, “I believe that donation will reach out to the people who really require the money.”
A Message to Other Lottery Players
Anilkumar encouraged other participants to stay hopeful and persistent. “I believe that everything happens for a reason. I suggest each and every player to keep playing, and for sure, one day luck will come to you,” he said.
The UAE Lottery’s Dh100 million jackpot marks a milestone in the nation’s lottery history and highlights the transformative potential of chance and opportunity.
