His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Ruler of Fujairah, participated in the Commemoration Day observance at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi. Accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes Affairs, the ceremony honored the heroic acts and sacrifices of UAE martyrs.
During the event, Sheikh Hamad laid a wreath at the memorial and conferred the Martyr’s Medal upon four families who lost loved ones in service to the UAE. This gathering underscored the nation's commitment to honoring and remembering its fallen heroes.
A poignant segment of the ceremony featured fighter jets forming the shape of the Unknown Soldier, symbolizing the bravery and dedication of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The aerial tribute deeply moved the attendees, serving as a vivid reminder of their valor.
Key figures at the ceremony included H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; H.H. Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and H.H. Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Their attendance highlighted the unity of the nation in paying homage to its heroes.
Also present were dignitaries like Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Major General Staff Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; and Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Jordan.
The ceremony, which was attended by families of martyrs, high-ranking officials, military personnel, diplomats, and esteemed guests, fostered an atmosphere rich with respect and national pride. This event showcased the UAE’s steadfast commitment to honoring its heroes and supporting their families.
Wahat Al Karama serves as a solemn tribute to fallen heroes, and the Commemoration Day event reinforced essential values of courage, patriotism, and unity. Through the acts of laying wreaths, presenting medals, and special aerial tributes, UAE leaders reaffirmed that the sacrifices made by the martyrs will never fade from memory.
