UAE launches national programme to cultivate 100 AI specialists

Post by : Raina Nasser

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has inaugurated the UAE Experts in Artificial Intelligence Programme — a strategic effort to prepare 100 AI specialists over the coming five years.

The initiative offers a 12-month syllabus that pairs formal instruction with immersive, hands-on learning, including visits to prominent AI centres abroad. Enrolees will be exposed to cutting-edge AI systems, research approaches and international standards to equip them to lead AI initiatives at home and overseas.

Sheikh Mansour noted the programme complements the UAE’s long-term aim to be among the world’s AI leaders. By developing domestic expertise, the scheme intends to strengthen the nation’s knowledge economy, boost innovation and supply skilled personnel to priority sectors.

The launch was announced during a session with graduates from the second and third cohorts of the UAE National Experts Programme at the UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mansour underlined the need to build indigenous capabilities in emerging technologies to ensure the UAE maintains a leading global position in AI development.

Officials say the programme underscores the UAE’s investment in human capital and its commitment to technological leadership and sustainable, innovation-led growth. Graduates are expected to accelerate digital transformation across areas such as healthcare, energy, smart city development and public services.

Positioned as a flagship platform, the UAE Experts in Artificial Intelligence Programme aims to foster talent pipelines, facilitate knowledge exchange and drive practical AI solutions that will influence the country’s technological trajectory.
