UAE as Guest of Honour at 4th Global Digital Trade Expo in China

Post by :

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to participate as an official Guest of Honour at the fourth edition of the Global Digital Trade Expo, which opens tomorrow in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. Indonesia is also being featured as a Guest of Honour at the event.

The expo, which will continue until 29th September, is being held at the Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Centre. Covering a massive area of 155,000 square metres, this year’s edition is the largest since the event began in 2022. Organizers expect it to attract a huge crowd of over 40,000 professional visitors, including 10,000 from overseas.

More than 1,700 companies are participating in the expo, including 360 international exhibitors. The event will display the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), smart logistics, digital entertainment, e-commerce, and smart city solutions. These innovations highlight the rapid growth of digital trade and technology worldwide.

The UAE’s national pavilion will be a key feature at the expo. It will showcase several cutting-edge projects related to the digital economy, FinTech solutions, AI, and smart government initiatives. These displays aim to demonstrate the UAE’s commitment to knowledge-based growth, digital transformation, and technological innovation.

Being selected as a Guest of Honour reflects the UAE’s growing global influence in the digital economy. It also highlights the country’s expanding digital infrastructure and its dedication to promoting innovative technology solutions.

Sheng Qiuping, China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, noted that more than 70 Fortune Global 500 companies are participating in the expo. Alongside the exhibition, the event will release research reports focusing on global and Chinese digital trade. More than 30 business matchmaking events will be held to encourage partnerships, collaborations, and knowledge exchange among companies from around the world.

UAE–China relations have strengthened significantly in recent years. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached US$90 billion in 2024, with ambitious targets set to reach $200 billion by 2030. The partnership is not limited to trade alone—it also extends to culture, education, sports, and tourism. Over one million Chinese visitors traveled to the UAE in 2024, demonstrating growing people-to-people connections.

The UAE’s presence at the Global Digital Trade Expo sends a strong message about its ambition to become a global hub for digital innovation. By showcasing its projects in AI, smart cities, and FinTech, the UAE hopes to attract international investments, build new partnerships, and further strengthen its position in the global technology landscape.

The expo is expected to be a major platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and exploring new business opportunities. It will allow countries and companies to present their latest digital trade technologies and innovations to a global audience. With so many international companies and visitors attending, the event promises to be a vibrant showcase of the latest developments in the digital economy.

Overall, the UAE’s participation highlights its proactive role in advancing technological growth, supporting smart governance, and contributing to global digital trade. This event also emphasizes the strong UAE–China relationship, which continues to grow in economic, cultural, and social dimensions.
