Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In an important advancement in their enduring partnership, the UAE and Kazakhstan convened for the tenth session of the UAE-Kazakhstan Joint Committee in Astana, co-chaired by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei and Zhaslan Madiyev. This meeting revitalized their collaboration across crucial strategic areas, reviewing progress and setting new objectives.

Discussions encompassed multiple domains including investments, finance, international partnerships, transportation, healthcare, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and energy. Officials from both countries noted a robust increase in economic exchanges, with non-oil trade projected to hit USD 5.6 billion in 2024, showcasing the expanding potential of joint ventures and rising investor trust.

The UAE delegation recalled His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to Astana in May 2025, which opened new avenues for collaboration in innovation, sustainability, and long-term economic progress. The discussions in Astana were aimed at transforming this momentum into tangible actions to foster mutual growth.

The session wrapped up with the signing of official minutes, reaffirming both countries’ dedication to achieving the agreed priorities. Additionally, Al Mazrouei chaired a roundtable with Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, to discuss ongoing projects and explore new cooperative opportunities involving public and private sectors.

Both nations emphasized the importance of closely monitoring current initiatives while promoting enhanced connections among small and medium-sized enterprises to foster deeper economic integration and diversify partnership channels.

During the visit, Al Mazrouei also led the sixth session of political discussions with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. They exchanged perspectives on bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters. Additional meetings with Kazakhstan's ministers of transport and energy aimed to investigate new avenues in logistics, shipping routes, and significant energy projects.

The Astana dialogues highlighted the consistent strengthening of ties between the UAE and Kazakhstan, paving the way for broader cooperation and new economic opportunities in the future.
