US President Donald Trump announced plans to travel to the Middle East on Sunday, following what he described as successful negotiations on the first phase of a Gaza peace plan. The agreement reportedly includes a temporary ceasefire and the release of hostages held in the region.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said, “The hostages will be coming back Monday or Tuesday. I’ll probably be there. I hope to be there. And we’re planning on leaving sometime Sunday, and I look forward to it.”
The announcement comes amid cautious optimism as violence in Gaza has shown signs of easing after weeks of heavy bombardment and ground operations. The ceasefire deal, which took shape through several rounds of mediated talks, is being viewed as the first tangible step toward ending months of conflict between Israel and Hamas.
While details of the peace framework remain under wraps, sources close to the discussions suggest that the agreement includes provisions for humanitarian aid delivery, monitored border crossings, and phased prisoner exchanges.
Trump’s planned visit marks a significant diplomatic move aimed at reinforcing U.S. involvement in brokering regional stability. His trip will likely include meetings with Israeli officials and regional leaders to discuss the next phase of the peace roadmap.
For many observers, the visit signals a critical moment in ongoing Middle East diplomacy—one that could either solidify fragile progress or expose deeper divisions depending on how the next few days unfold.
