Trump Pushes for Quick End to Iran War as Tehran Reviews US Peace Proposal

Post by : Saif Nasser

United States President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that the ongoing conflict with Iran could end soon as Tehran reviews a new American-backed peace proposal. The latest diplomatic effort comes after months of military tension, economic pressure, and growing fears of a wider war in the Middle East.

According to reports, the proposed agreement is a short memorandum designed to formally stop the war that began on February 28, 2026. The proposal was reportedly developed with the help of international mediators and could open the door for more detailed negotiations in the coming weeks.

President Trump said he believes both sides are moving closer to a settlement. He stated that recent talks with Iran had been “very good” and suggested that peace remains possible despite continuing disagreements over important issues.

The conflict between the United States and Iran has deeply affected global politics and financial markets. Since the war began earlier this year, tensions around the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted oil shipments and increased fears about energy shortages. The waterway is one of the world’s most important trade routes for oil and natural gas.

Reports of possible peace talks immediately affected world markets. Oil prices dropped sharply while global stock markets moved higher on hopes that a major Middle East conflict could soon calm down. Investors believe an agreement would help stabilize energy supplies and reduce uncertainty in the global economy.

However, many difficult problems remain unresolved. Sources familiar with the negotiations said the current proposal does not fully address several major American demands. These include limits on Iran’s uranium enrichment program, restrictions on missile development, and concerns over Iran’s support for armed groups in the region.

Iranian officials have reacted carefully to the proposal. Some members of Iran’s parliament reportedly described parts of the plan as unrealistic and too favorable to Washington. Tehran has repeatedly stated that any agreement must respect Iran’s sovereignty and national interests.

The peace effort is reportedly being led by Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff along with Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and former White House adviser. Pakistani and Saudi mediators are also believed to be playing important roles in the negotiations.

The current proposal could begin a 30-day negotiation process if both countries agree to the first memorandum. During that period, diplomats would try to reach a larger agreement covering nuclear issues, sanctions, regional security, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the biggest concerns in the conflict. Iran’s control over the strategic waterway has created major pressure on international trade and oil markets. The United States and its allies have repeatedly demanded that the route remain open for global shipping.

At the same time, diplomatic tensions between the United States and some Middle Eastern allies have also become visible. Reports suggested Saudi Arabia became unhappy after not being fully consulted about certain American military plans connected to the conflict. This reportedly influenced some US military decisions in the region.

The war has also created political pressure inside the United States. Many Americans have questioned the cost and long-term impact of another major military conflict in the Middle East. Public opinion surveys have shown strong support for ending the war quickly and avoiding a larger regional crisis.

Critics have also accused the Trump administration of sending mixed messages during the conflict. At different times, Trump has spoken about peace negotiations while also threatening stronger military action if talks fail. Some analysts believe these changing statements have created confusion about America’s long-term strategy.

Still, many international leaders support diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation. Countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East fear that a longer war could damage global trade, increase oil prices, and create instability throughout the region.

The possibility of a peace agreement is therefore being watched closely around the world. Even a temporary deal could help reduce military tensions and create space for broader negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

At the same time, experts warn that reaching a final agreement will not be easy. The two countries continue to disagree on major issues involving Iran’s nuclear program, regional influence, missile systems, and economic sanctions. Years of distrust between both governments also make negotiations more difficult.

For now, the proposed memorandum represents one of the strongest signs of diplomacy since the conflict began earlier this year. Whether it leads to lasting peace or only a temporary pause remains uncertain. But after months of war, destruction, and economic disruption, even the possibility of dialogue is being seen as an important development for the Middle East and the wider world.
