On Thursday morning, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially inaugurated the foundation for the Abu Al Kizan Marine Village in Khorfakkan.
This significant initiative is aligned with Sharjah’s comprehensive vision to elevate tourism, urbanization, and overall quality of life within the emirate. Spanning 7 million square feet, the development aims to establish a premier tourism and investment hub in Khorfakkan.
Inspired by Italy’s renowned coastal villages, the Abu Al Kizan Marine Village will feature a blend of traditional Ligurian architecture and Islamic design elements, crafting a distinctive waterfront experience. The project will showcase vibrant terraced buildings nestled around a naturally formed harbor, providing breathtaking sea views amidst a beautiful landscape.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Dr. Sultan reviewed the project’s comprehensive masterplan and amenity offerings. The Marine Village is set to include lush green areas, a beach, a central promenade, roadways, pedestrian pathways, and integrated public services that enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.
The designation “Abu Al Kizan” underscores the region’s maritime heritage, as “Kizan” represents the plural of “Koz,” a sizeable shellfish, reinforcing the project’s deep-rooted connection to the coastal ecosystem.
Strategically located in Khorfakkan, the site is connected to numerous key attractions, such as Khorfakkan Corniche, the Old Souq, Khorfakkan Port, and Al Suhub Rest Area, which is poised to enhance its tourism and investment potential.
Officials announced that the development will consist of 201 land plots designed for 285 structures, encompassing multi-storey residential units, villas, mixed-use properties, office spaces, a hotel, and a mosque. This endeavor aspires to forge a contemporary and integrated urban community catering to various residential and commercial requirements.
The design philosophy integrates the region’s natural topography by strategically managing building heights across the area. Sustainable practices will be implemented to safeguard marine habitats and maintain biodiversity in the vicinity.
The Abu Al Kizan Marine Village project epitomizes Sharjah’s enduring vision for cultivating sustainable tourism and urban spaces that harmonize natural beauty, environmental stewardship, and contemporary infrastructure.
Several high-ranking officials were present at the groundbreaking ceremony, including Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairman of Sharjah Islamic Bank; Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; and Dr. Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of Mubadara.
