Timarpur UPSC Candidate Killed in Calculated Conspiracy by Partner and Ex-Boyfriend

Timarpur UPSC Candidate Killed in Calculated Conspiracy by Partner and Ex-Boyfriend

Post by : Raina Nasser

Delhi police have determined that the charred remains discovered in a Timarpur flat on October 6 belong to 32-year-old UPSC aspirant Ram Kesh Meena, and that the incident was a deliberate homicide rather than an accidental blaze. Investigators say the killing was carried out by the victim’s live-in partner, her former boyfriend and a mutual acquaintance, motivated by revenge and disputes over intimate recordings.

Meena, who lived in Gandhi Vihar while preparing for civil service examinations, was allegedly targeted after a dispute with 21-year-old Amrita Chauhan, his partner. Police allege Chauhan collaborated with her ex-lover, Sumit Kashyap, because Meena refused to delete private videos of her kept on a hard disk despite repeated demands.

According to official statements, Chauhan discovered the recordings and became furious when Meena did not comply. She then contacted Kashyap, who shared her anger and was purportedly intent on retaliation. The two are accused of recruiting Sandeep Kumar, a mutual friend, to assist in executing a plan that would disguise murder as an accidental fire.

Police reconstruction indicates that on the night of October 5 the three suspects entered Meena’s flat. The victim was allegedly beaten and strangled before the perpetrators attempted to obliterate evidence by dousing his body with flammable liquids such as ghee, oil and wine. Investigators say Kashyap, employed at a gas distribution firm, used his knowledge to place an LPG cylinder close to Meena’s head and left the valve open.

After removing laptops, a hard disk and other items, the accused set the room alight with a lighter, secured the exit and departed. Approximately an hour later an explosion destroyed the room and reduced the occupant to ashes, investigators reported.

However, police say the perpetrators overlooked CCTV coverage. Footage reviewed by investigators captured two masked males and a female entering the flat shortly before the inferno. Subsequent analysis and phone-location data identified Amrita at the scene and helped establish the sequence of events.

Authorities carried out a series of raids that led to arrests: Chauhan was taken into custody on October 18, Kashyap on October 21 and Sandeep on October 23. During questioning, Chauhan reportedly admitted involvement and provided details about the plan.

Chauhan is said to have told police she was studying forensic science and that elements of the scheme were influenced by crime-focused web series and her academic knowledge. Her statement has drawn particular attention from investigators given the calculated nature of the attack.

Delhi Police have since recovered the stolen hard disk and other electronic devices from the accused, according to official sources. Forensic teams continue to examine recovered items as part of the ongoing probe.

Investigators described the episode as both methodically organised and emotionally charged, noting the unusual convergence of technical planning and personal vendetta in the commission of the crime.

The case has stunned the capital, in part because it involves a young woman purportedly trained in forensic concepts applying that knowledge to commit a violent act against her partner. The brutality and apparent motive have provoked widespread public concern.

Police are continuing inquiries to determine whether additional individuals were privy to or complicit in the conspiracy. The Timarpur murder has reignited broader debates about digital privacy, abusive relationships and the potential impact of crime-media on vulnerable individuals as the investigation proceeds.
