Abu Dhabi: In an electrifying performance, Australian batsman Tim David decimated the Aspin Stallions bowling attack as the UAE Bulls celebrated their inaugural Abu Dhabi T10 title at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Sunday. David's outstanding innings of 98 runs, featuring 12 sixes and three fours, laid the groundwork for a commanding 80-run triumph.
The Bulls opened with Phil Salt (18 off 8) and James Vince, who unfortunately left the field without scoring due to injury. Salt ignited early action, yet it was David who stole the spotlight, boasting a strike rate of 326.66. Pairing with Rovman Powell (24 off 20), the duo constructed a formidable 128-run partnership, propelling the Bulls to a robust total of 150/1 in their 10 overs.
In their turn to bat, the Stallions faced an uphill battle. Their troubles mounted early with Andre Fletcher (2 off 3) retiring hurt and Sherfane Rutherford dismissed for a duck by Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/2). Despite a valiant effort from skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz (18 off 15), the Stallions struggled to find their groove, finishing at 70/4. Significant contributions came from Junaid Siddique (1/18), Iftikhar Ahmed (1/7), and Qais Ahmad (1/14), confirming the Bulls’ supremacy.
David's incredible season did not slip under the radar. Concluding the tournament with 393 runs in nine innings, averaging 65.50 and a striking rate over 263, he secured both Batter of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament honors. Other individual accolades were awarded to Andrew Tye (Bowler of the Tournament, Vista Riders) and Junaid Siddique (UAE Player of the Tournament) for their outstanding efforts throughout the series.
This resounding victory not only marks the UAE Bulls' first T10 title but also sets a new benchmark for power-hitting prowess in the league. Fans and analysts lauded David's performance as one of the most remarkable in the history of the Abu Dhabi T10, reflecting the increasing depth and allure of short-format cricket in the area.
