A somber mood enveloped Telangana politics after Tanneeru Satyanarayana Rao, father of former minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), died in Hyderabad early Tuesday following age-related health complications. The passing prompted widespread condolences from political leaders and party members across the state.
Family sources said Mr. Satyanarayana Rao hailed from Kothapalli village in Karimnagar district and had been in declining health for some time. He was widely regarded for his modest lifestyle, strict personal discipline and years of community service, leaving a lasting impression on his native village and relatives.
Relatives, party workers and well-wishers converged at Harish Rao's Kokapet residence where the body lay in state. Mourners, including numerous BRS supporters, arrived throughout the morning to pay respects. Family officials confirmed the funeral rites will be conducted at the Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Film Nagar on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior state leaders across the political spectrum conveyed their sympathies. BRS founder K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) described Mr. Satyanarayana Rao as a man of integrity and affection, phoning Harish Rao immediately after learning of the death and offering his condolences. KCR is also expected to visit the family personally.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed sorrow over the loss and extended his condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and peace for the departed soul during this difficult period.
BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) visited the family to pay floral tributes and announced the suspension of all BRS events and the Jubilee Hills by-election campaign for the day as a mark of respect. His actions underscored the party's collective sense of loss.
Other political figures who offered condolences included Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, D.
