Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sign Veteran Jason Pierre-Paul to Practice Squad

Post by : Mara Rahim

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are welcoming back Jason Pierre-Paul to their practice squad. This two-time NFL Pro Bowler returns to the team almost two years after his previous appearance on the field. Pierre-Paul was a pivotal player in the Buccaneers’ 2020 Super Bowl victory, contributing 9.5 sacks, and he now joins a formidable pass-rush ensemble that includes Haason Reddick and YaYa Diaby.

Eager to seize the right opportunity to play, the 36-year-old defensive star expressed that he has been diligently training with his personal trainer to stay competition-ready. Drafted by the New York Giants in 2010, Pierre-Paul has amassed an impressive 94.5 sacks over his 14-year career across various teams, including the Giants, Buccaneers, Ravens, Saints, and Dolphins.

Currently tied for first place in the NFC South with a 7-6 record, the Buccaneers are set to face the Atlanta Falcons this Thursday night. Pierre-Paul feels fit and ready to impact the game positively.

Buccaneers' coach Larry Foote stated that Pierre-Paul's leadership and infectious energy are invaluable, traits that are hard to instill in players. Despite his absence from game action since December 2023, the coaching staff is confident in Pierre-Paul's ability to make an immediate impact, noting his strong performance during workouts.

With the division competition heating up, the Buccaneers are counting on Pierre-Paul's wealth of experience and defensive acumen to guide them through the critical weeks ahead.
