As the festive season reaches its peak, many people find it difficult to stay healthy. Holiday dinners, sweet treats, and busy schedules often make it hard to control what we eat. By the time the New Year approaches, the pressure to begin dieting suddenly feels overwhelming. But according to Chennai-based health coach Vivek Thiruvengadam, you can start making progress right now with a few simple changes.
Vivek, who is also the founder of QubitFit, shared four easy and realistic weight-loss tips in an Instagram post on November 26. His suggestions focus on healthy habits rather than strict or extreme diets. He believes anyone can follow these steps without feeling stressed or deprived.
Vivek’s first advice is to cut down on fat instead of cutting carbs. He explained that many people believe removing carbohydrates from their meals is the fastest way to lose weight, but this is not true. Fat contains more calories than carbs, so reducing oily and fried foods can make a big difference. He shared his own example of using an oil spray while cooking and choosing boiled or steamed vegetables over fried ones. Even when eating potatoes, he recommends steaming them instead of frying. This small change keeps meals light while still giving the body enough energy.
The second tip is to avoid liquid calories. Drinks like sweet coffee, milkshakes, soft drinks, and juices often add more calories than we realise. Vivek said he replaced his daily milky coffee with black coffee, which helped him reduce many unnecessary calories without changing his routine too much. Simple swaps like these can make a noticeable change over time.
His third suggestion is to walk after every meal. Vivek shared that walking for just ten minutes after breakfast, lunch, or dinner can improve digestion and increase daily movement. This habit helps burn extra calories and boosts energy levels. It is easy, free, and suitable for people of all ages. Starting small can eventually lead to more consistent physical activity throughout the day.
The fourth and final tip is to keep breakfast consistent. According to Vivek, having the same meal every morning helps control cravings and reduces confusion about what to eat. He recommends choosing a breakfast that is rich in protein and fibre because these nutrients help you stay full for longer. When your morning meal is stable and healthy, it becomes easier to make better choices for the rest of the day.
Vivek ended his message by saying that these are the simple steps he personally follows. He encouraged people to reach out if they want a more detailed explanation of his routine. His advice shows that weight loss does not have to include strict dieting, skipping meals, or giving up favourite foods. Instead, steady habits and small adjustments can bring slow but meaningful progress.
His message is a helpful reminder that improving health is not about dramatic changes. It is about choosing practical steps that fit into everyday life. As the New Year approaches, these four tips can help anyone feel more confident, energetic, and prepared to continue their health journey.
