Shraddha Kapoor Faces Injury on ‘Eetha’ Set; Filming Temporarily Suspended

Post by : Mina Rahman

Beloved actress Shraddha Kapoor, recognized for her versatility in Bollywood, has been absent from the silver screen since her last appearance in Stree 2 (2024). Fans have been eagerly anticipating news about her upcoming projects, particularly after reports indicated she had commenced filming for Laxman Utekar’s eagerly awaited movie Eetha this month. However, production has recently been placed on hold following an incident in which Shraddha fractured her toe during a dance routine.

The mishap occurred while she was engaged in a Lavani dance, a traditional and energetic dance form from Maharashtra. Sources share that the routine, choreographed by Ajay-Atul, required Shraddha to execute rapid sequences while adorning a colorful Nauvari saree, traditional jewelry, and a kamarpatta. To authentically portray the legendary Tamasha performer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, Shraddha gained over 15 kg for this role. Unfortunately, while performing one of the intricate steps, she misplaced her balance, resulting in a fractured toe.

In light of the injury, director Laxman Utekar swiftly halted the shoot to ensure Shraddha's well-being. Displaying her commitment to the film, Shraddha proposed a new shooting schedule focusing on emotional close-ups that wouldn't necessitate much physical exertion. The crew subsequently moved to a set in Madh Island, where she managed to film some scenes. However, as her discomfort escalated in the following days, the production had to cease entirely. The team aims to revive filming in about two weeks once Shraddha has fully healed.

Eetha is a highly awaited biopic that narrates the life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, the revered dancer and Tamasha artist who significantly impacted Maharashtra’s performing arts. The film aspires to highlight her challenges, victories, and contributions to folklore theatre.

Fans are anxiously looking forward to Shraddha Kapoor’s return to the screens and are extending their wishes for her swift recovery. Her unwavering devotion to her profession, despite facing such setbacks, has only heightened anticipation for both Eetha and her portrayal of the iconic Vithabai.
